1/2 Lb. Coral Tooth Mushroom

Coral Tooth or Hericium Coralloides is one of the four types of Hericiums found in North America. In China, it is highly valued for its medicinal properties and is widely consumed. Like all other types of Hericium, it contains a compound called “erinacines” which is increasingly being studied for it’s neuroprotective effects and has shown potential in treating Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Coral Tooth is Saprobic and possibly parasitic, growing in clusters or individually on fallen hardwood branches and stumps. It is a large, white to creamy mass with numerous branches that are toothed, coarse and growing downwards. This mushroom is sometimes described as looking like a fungal icicle.  The Coral Tooth has an earthier flavor than its relative the Lion's Mane and is very similar in taste to the treasured Morel mushroom.
